Sizing a coffee table to your sofa
As a rule of thumb, a coffee table looks right at about half to two-thirds the length of your sofa, with 40–60 cm, depending on how you sit, between the two: close enough to reach a cup, far enough for knees. Keep the tabletop at or a little below the height of the sofa seat; many of ours sit low, which suits deep, relaxed sofas.
In a compact 3-room living room, a round table softens the walkway and is easier to step around. A nesting set lets you pull a second table out when guests visit and tuck it away afterwards, and several designs have drawers or hidden storage for remotes and coasters.
Coffee tables for L-shaped sofas
An L-shaped sofa needs a table that both arms of the L can reach. A square or round table set within the L usually works better than a long rectangle, and a nesting pair lets you spread the surface to where people actually sit. Our guide to coffee table sizes for L-shaped sofas goes into more detail.
If the L is long, two smaller tables at slightly different heights can cover the run without blocking the walkway.
Materials and care
Sintered and microcrystalline stone tops resist heat, scratches and most stains, which makes them easy to live with in a busy living room. Natural travertine and marble are more porous: use coasters, blot spills quickly and reseal now and then. Wood and wood-veneer tables want a soft, slightly damp cloth along the grain, and a coaster under cold drinks, since Singapore's humidity makes condensation rings common. Tempered glass tops keep a small room feeling open and need only a soft cloth and glass cleaner.

Coffee Tables: common questions
- What size coffee table suits a 3-seater sofa?
- As a rule of thumb, aim for about half to two-thirds the length of the sofa, so roughly 105–140 cm for a 210 cm sofa. Leave 40–60 cm, depending on how you sit, between the sofa and the table.
- What coffee table works with an L-shaped sofa?
- A round or square table, or a nesting pair, sits well within an L because both sides can reach it. Keep 40–60 cm between the table and each seat, depending on how you sit.
- Is a round coffee table better for a small HDB living room?
- Often, yes. A round table has no corners to knock into and is easier to walk around in a tight layout, which helps in 3-room flats and narrow living rooms.
- Will a stone coffee table stain?
- Sintered and microcrystalline stone resist most stains and wipe clean. Natural travertine and marble are more porous, so use coasters and blot coffee, wine or citrus straight away.
- How long does coffee table delivery take?
- About 30–35 business days from your order, since each table is built to order. Our team delivers it, and delivery is free on orders over $600.
