Top-grain leather, explained
Top-grain leather is the outer layer of the hide, lightly finished so it stays supple and resists stains. It wipes clean, doesn't hold dust, and develops a gentle patina over time.
In Singapore's climate, leather is happiest away from direct afternoon sun and aircon vents blowing straight at it. Every product page lists the real width, depth and height, so you can plan the spot first.
Looking after it
Dust it, wipe spills with a soft damp cloth, and condition it now and then. Our leather sofa care guide covers marks, scratches and humidity.
Leather sofas: common questions
- Does leather get sticky in Singapore's heat?
- Leather can feel warmer to sit on than fabric on humid days, especially in direct sun. Air-conditioned living rooms and a throw on the seat you use most both help.
- Is leather good for homes with pets?
- Fur and dander wipe straight off leather, which many owners love. Claws can leave marks, though they tend to blend into the patina over time.
- How do I keep a leather sofa looking good?
- Dust regularly, blot spills quickly, keep it out of direct sun and condition it occasionally. Avoid household cleaners and alcohol-based wipes.
